Sunday Times Historic Britain Award Winner, UK Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards 2020

The Wallace Monument taken from the banks of the River Forth on a calm autumn morning. I had been to this location many times to take a sunrise image without success. On this morning something made me wait to see what would happen with the light, even though the sunrise was a disappointment. The combination of golden early morning light with the autumnal colours was even better than how I had originally envisioned the shot.
